This phenomenon happened the day I left for Iceland (9/15/15). I didn’t see it but know it was a “welcome” for me!
As you can see, I painted an aurora series. My aurora borealis “Northern Lights” Christmas card was a hit and several friends told me they kept it for display after the holidays. The trees were painted very thick and popped out of the canvas, while the “light show” in the sky is blended; all done with the knife! It was a special treat for me to paint this scene, actually a combination of two images I downloaded.
