Degas' Ballerinas

Stretching at the Barre

I closed the year (2017) with a class on Degas.  His work is classified as impressionist but he claimed to be a realistic painter.  

In his later years, despite his fading eyesight, he did a series on ballerinas.  His passion was to capture movement.  

I love his use of colors and action!  Can you just imagine the performance he saw.  Hope I did him justice.
